Route Description

The journey is organized by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism as part of the "Sur: The Arab Tourism Capital for 2024" events. It is a two-day mountain hiking expedition with camping in the Eastern Hajar Mountains. The trail begins near the water pools close to the village of Maqil in the Wilayat of Wadi Bani Khalid at an altitude of 640 meters. The route gradually ascends to the highest peak overlooking Wadi Bani Khalid, covering a distance of 4 to 5 kilometers. It then continues along a moderately steep mountain path until reaching the campsite near the transmission station at the 20-kilometer mark. The total ascent to the village of Halout is approximately 2,000 meters, with this point reaching an altitude of around 2,050 meters above sea level. On the second day, the hike descends from the campsite at Halout village, following a dirt road for about 10 kilometers before transitioning to a mountain trail. The descent continues for another 11 kilometers until reaching the village of Simma, part of Tiwi township. The trail then proceeds along a paved road for approximately 9 kilometers, leading to the endpoint at the bridge near Tiwi township at the 50-kilometer mark, with a total descent of approximately 2,700 meters.
