Himam Taster Run Shines as a Key Event at Jabal Akhdar Summer 2024
September 8, 2024The Himam Trail Run Race concluded its fifth edition on Thursday evening in Birkat Al-Mouz, Nizwa, under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Said bin Mohammed Al-Saqri, Minister of Economy, and in the presence of dignitaries and officials. The event saw a large and enthusiastic participation from various age groups. The race, organized by the Himam Trail Run Team, featured strong competition, with participants showcasing their skills and physical abilities in navigating diverse mountain terrain.
The winners of the top positions were crowned, and awards were distributed to all participants. In the 110 km category, the first-place winner in the men’s division was Moroccan Rachid El Morabity, with a time of 15:54 hours. The second-place winner was Saleh bin Ali bin Abdullah Al-Saidi, and the third place went to Russian Navil Shaimukhametov. In the women’s division, Spanish Maite Mayor claimed first place with a time of 17:40 hours, while Moroccan Aziza Raji
took second place, and Russian Tatiana Fedoseeva secured third place.
In the 55 km category, the first-place winner in the men’s division was Gaith Alsaidi, with a time of 5:11:28 hours. The second place went to Amjad Aljamoudi, and third place was claimed by Mousa Al-Subihi. In the women’s category, Australian Karis Brown won first place with a time of 7:22:37 hours, followed by Kenyan Prudence Maseki in second place and Portuguese Demi Lopes in third.
In the 20 km category, Moroccan Aziz Ahnida won first place in the men’s division with a time of 1:32:17, while second place went to Wadhah Alflaiti and third place to Kenyan Bernard Mongai. In the women’s division, Irish Ciara Blackstock took first place with a time of 2:12:49 hours, followed by Iranian Zohreh Hashemabadi in second place, and South African Sandra Pretorius in third.
The organizers praised the high sportsmanship displayed by the participants, emphasizing the importance of such events in promoting physical activity and spreading the culture of sports within the community.
For his part, His Excellency Ahmed bin Nasser Alabri, Member of the Shura Council and representative of Nizwa, Chairman of the Race Organizing Committee, expressed his gratitude to all participants and supporters, pointing out that the event’s great success reflects the community’s commitment to engaging in high-quality sports activities. The ceremony included a visual presentation, recognition of the winners, and appreciation for the supporters.
It is worth mentioning that the race was organized by the Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate, in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth, and sponsored by several organizations. This event is part of a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing sports tourism and highlighting the natural and heritage attractions of the Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate as a distinguished sports destination.
